Oh My Davey!

This has taken far too long. I was moving hosts because my domain would expire in January, but then the host refused to give me a dns-only account, so I basically transferred and paid for nothing. I had to move again. I moved and paid and accepted the move to another host that does accept dns-only, and then it took another, like, MONTH before this whole moving actually happened!

In the mean time I have set up another domain though, I’m trying to set up a collective for all the fanlistings I’ve built and continue to build. Also have I gotten my old site back, so I went from one to nothing to three!

This might all seem a little crazy but in the end I hope it will turn out well. I’m not linking anywhere yet cause I’m in the process of setting up and everything.

Besides, I’m almost on my way to France now, I’m going to Paris to celebrate New Year’s Eve and won’t be back until the 2nd of January!

I’m just so glad this site is back up that I thought I’d mention it. I hope to update in the blog during my holidays but you never know. Soooo, merry Christmas everyone!

Okay, I know I have to go study Philosophy and keep my promise to go to bed on time. But I just wanted to share this [and that's also a lame excuse to not forget about it] because it is All Things Awesome. I should make a new page listing All Things Awesome and when I get my hand on these items they will totally be part of that list!

Enough suspension.. what am I talking about? Well.. the Greatest Shoes Ever in the history of Great Shoes. And also the Greatest Adhesive Tape but I’m not so sure because hey! I’m a sucker for adhesive tape anyway.

One step, one point: Space Invader shoes! Look at that! It’s awesome. It’s better than awesome but there is no word for that, in my vocabulary. It’s just aaaawesome. And I also should say I want this slightly cheaper slightly less awesome adhesive tape.

I’ve been approved for the streetart fanlisting so I’ve been working on that today. I think it’s finished, so now all people have to do is join!. It’s all sorts of compatible and accessible. Or at least I wish to believe so. It’s rather a tough job to make a site of, say, four pages, accessible when you’re using an imagemap. Normally I wouldn’t make such a big deal out of this and skip the imagemaps. But I like imagemaps on my fanlistings and I don’t know how else to create them than in the manner I am making them now. So yeah, in the end I doubt if all my fanlistings are good to see when colourblind, or plain blind, or such things.. but then again I doubt if people with text-only browsers really want to join fanlistings? You never know though so I try my bestest [and come up with lame solutions hahaha].

That’s what it should look like. In IE my solution [i.e. font size in the footer is rediculously small] works, but in red, and in Opera that 1% solution doesn’t work at all. I guess using visibilty won’t work because then it wouldn’t show up in text-only, either, right? Or am I just being very lame and should I totally get rid of the imagemap? [I don't want to, I love it the way it is!] Keep in mind I just want to learn and try and have the best solutions for everyone!

Sick. Sleepy. Sigh.

As you might have noticed I am terrible with subject titles. I just never know what to call an entry, because in the end it’s about the content. The problem is my content goes here and there and back, so I can’t exactly name every entry a nice, fitting, title. At least most of the times I have huge difficulties.

Today I’m sick and sleepy, but I got good news anyway. One is that hopefully tomorrow I won’t be sick anymore as I plan to sleep well and sleep a lot [I slept in, slept some more, but I have terrible aches that keep me from sleeping]. Obviously I missed school today but I’m trying to make it to the music school in about half an hour. What I will be doing there is rehearse with the flutist, for our presentation on the 21st. So bear with me. Most of the times these rehearsals end up like this: me with broken skin or something along those lines, not being able to keep up with the speedymcspeedy flutist and just uberly frustrated/stressed for the presentation.

The good thing however, is that I love playing and I love playing with others even more, so it’s going to be alright. The presentation will turn out fine also because I just know the parents of the small kids [also performing, it's the school's "harp class" evening] will love it even if we make mistakes. The parents of the small kids admire what I’m doing [playing advanced pieces] and are relieved to hear what their children can acquire. Because to be honest, the pieces the small kids are playing are a earsores. Not that the pieces aren’t good, but it’s combined with the not-yet-developed techinques, bad timing, etcetera that you long for the day they can actually play. Play well, that is.

Now it looks like I’m bragging but it’s just that of the harpists performing on such an evening, I am indeed the best. Except when there are better harpists of course, but the good ones are the older ones and they don’t care for parent presentations.

Well, hey, I’m going to practice a little bit before wrapping myself [it's freezing out and I'm still sick] and leaving, so toodles!

Tadadadummm!

Yeah, that was a drumroll. Obviously. Because, I got my review! To be honest it came a little soon, because I know I don’t have a lot of content up :[ so now the review was a tad short. But nonetheless very helpful so I'm totally improving my site. That's what critique is for, right, improvement.

With all the typos it might seem like I don't care but I do proofread. I read my pages from time to time. I don't know what's up with that, but some mistakes you just stop seeing, especially if you made them yourself. So I think it's a good idea to have others read.. so thanks for that!

Anyone wanting to read the review: read what Rhiannon - PetShopGirl - has to say about my site!

Moving on, because I seem to have troubles. First, what Rhiannon said. What is up with this site not being seen on a Mac?! I never knew about that problem though -___-. And second, why does it load so extreeeemely slowly? Or is that just me? I think my server is being a -something- and not cooperating well. Does anyone else have problems? Maybe suggestions on how to solve these problems? Is it WordPress that makes my pages load so slowly? Either way, I'm planning on solving this, hopefully soon!!

Right now, I'm moving all my fivehundred links to a, how surprising, links page. I heard people enjoyed my links, and I know I enjoy my links, so I'm keeping them all. Kind of like that online bookmarking I don't want to join. I'll just keep my daily visits on one page. Simple.

The question is, however, if I will make the page in WordPress [like I'm doing with all my pages, now] or seperately, because it seems to load faster. We’ll see about that.

That time out thing is really worrying me though, because I don’t think it’s the images. Perhaps it’s a software miscommunication somewhere. I discussed this with people before the review and now with that on top of it, I’m a little clueless.

About the handwriting: is it me or when I say "messages" the right verb would be "look" and not "looks"?

Screencaps, well, I took them anyway – so why not share them? There are screencaps site out there that have heaps more than I do! Maybe I’ll lock them away on my graphics journal. Yeah. That’ll do. End of discussion, because at the end of the day I can’t make anything if I have to stick to the rules. That’s just how it is! I take screencaps to make graphics, so there.

Yes, this has always been an issue, so while I lock the screencaps away, I just want to say this. Most graphics out there are eviiiiil and copyright infringement. Even if I’m someone that vows for original copyright, I also enjoy graphics. It’s hard to track down what belongs to whom. When I save images [oh sue me] I don’t write down the source or url. Perhaps I should. Only if I use the images though, because keeping them on my computer is just fine. See how this gets confusing, or how people get lazy? Yeah. Teh Interwebs is a bitch. At least when I make graphics, I don’t ask credit. That’s the least I can do, because in the end I did put work into these graphics. All I did was just forget who the original copyrightholder was. This is how I solve it. And in the world of GeeJay or ElJay that isn’t a bad thing. Most graphicmakers, however, make graphics [copyright infringement] and then ask for credit [more evil]. To quote Marilyn Manson, "I’m the better of two evils".

As on the content on the books and music, yeah, it’s there. I have it. Somewhere. See, I’ve written reviews and stuff but I’ve been too lazy to put them online. Or my visitors should just visit another journal of mine and read it there.

That’s it! I’m still thinking about more, and original, content, so I’m sure it’ll get there someday. Just.. bear with me!

If you always wanted to know more about my obsessions, I suggest you read this page.

Maybe it is enlightening, maybe it isn’t. It surely kept me busy and I think I will often keep it open to just look at it and admire it and think of new or other things to say. Either way, I find it amusing.

Content is content, even if it is slightly unusual, it totally allows you to learn more about me!
