Quickies

I suggest you read this if you don’t want to read the enormous blobs of text on the about me page because in these lists there is almost everything you ever needed to know about me. Yeah. Enjoy. [Last updated: january 2011]

Vief in real life

When you get to meet me/know me in real life, this is going to stand out:

  • I have a septum piercing [yes, I pierced it myself], gauged ears and a mohawk. I like dyeing my hair, mostly purple, blue and green or combinations/variations thereof.
  • As a lolita, I’m mostly found in very poofy skirts or dresses :D with cute blouses or frilled cutsews on top and a bow or beret on my head.
  • I have a Dutch accent, it’s very apparent when I speak with Belgian people. I have a "hard g" as we say. There’s a difference in the sound of words with g’s in them and there are soft and hard g’s. You can tell where someone comes from by listening to their g’s ;).
  • Though when I speak French or English, I don’t really have a Dutch accent. [My English accent is more of an American one, though.]
  • I can be pretty geeky and use netspeak in real life. Yes, I say "eye dee kay" and "double-yew tee eff?!" I can’t help it anymore.
  • I tend to write the way I think and speak. A lot of rambling. Ehhh.
  • I really like to sing.
  • Whenever I go out, I bring my camera. Just any camera is fine, I feel really helpless without something to take photos with.
  • I am addicted to lip balm. I have to have a lip balm handy or else I go insane. Sometimes I clean out my bags and there are like five different lip balms in there.
  • I dislike rain, however I do like snow and most of all, sunshine… but I hate sitting in the direct sun. I don’t want to get a tan, so I try to hide from the sun that I like so much! Oh, to be conflicted.
  • I don’t like fingernails. I don’t like the feel of nails on things [like paper or keyboards/buttons] and I keep them as short as possible. This comes in handy, because harp players aren’t supposed to have long fingernails [unless they play South American music where fingernails are used for playing].

random facts

  1. I burst out singing randomly, during conversations, on the bike, in the train.
  2. I’m also good at falling asleep.
  3. I do not like doing the dishes. At all. Blergh.
  4. Sometimes I feel ashamed for fangirling over people [mainly Davey] because I realize these people have families, are someone’s partner, sibling or child. It makes me feel quite uncomfortable.
  5. Lurking, looking at people’s creations and photographs, is what I like about the internet. It’s nice to find other people with similar interests, or completely different people who can be very inspiring. I try to leave a comment most of the time, because it’s just so nice to read that people look at your stuff!
  6. Bad grammar and not-centered-layouts make me unhappy, as do tiny fonts. I have to push myself to stay on the website if any of this is the case.
  7. Whenever I read something on the computer, I select the phrase or part I am reading, then unselect it and select it again. And again. I don’t know why I do it, though I do know that when selecting is disabled I go nuts!
  8. Whenever something has the number "41" in it, I smile. This may or may not have everything to do with my love for the band Sum 41.
  9. Whenever I paint my nails, I want to hide them and keep my hands in my pockets, behind my back, under the table, etc. Weird!
  10. I never thought I would like to "fit in" with a group of people, subculture or fashion style, but now I really like it when people tell me they know about Lolita [or "Gothic Lolita", as people sometimes mistakenly say] and I really enjoy informing people about everything and anything Lolita-related.

lately, I’ve been really into…

My take on the "things I like" list. It got really boring so I’m just going to list five things here and we’re done!

  • Music: the soundtrack for Wicked. I’ve seen the musical twice now and I’m so in love!
  • TV: Big Bang Theory! Muffin and I are now up-to-date, we watched all of the four seasons in quick succession, yeeeaahh!
  • Browns and blues: Darker colours are good for the darker months. I discovered I own quite a lot of navy-coloured stuff.
  • Layering: it is important to stay warm! I don’t own many big sweaters or thick trousers, so the key is to have many layers, which is extra fun.
  • Disney: We had a Disney-marathon to ring in the new year, in four days I’ve seen eight Disney animated movies :D
